The experience
Fly fishing the lagoon is a hunter's game: poling quietly along mangrove edges, spotting rolling tarpon in shallow, clear water, and dropping a handcrafted fly exactly where it needs to land. One good cast, one strip — and a silver king goes airborne at the end of your line.
The Sundance VX20's low profile was chosen for exactly this — a poling platform, a casting deck, and nothing to snag your line. Trips are capped at two anglers so every cast has room to work. More skill and experience required than light tackle — and worth every bit of it.

You should be comfortable casting a fly rod — lagoon tarpon reward accurate, gentle presentation. If you're newer to the sport, start with a light tackle charter; the fights are the same, the casting is easier.
Fly casting needs space. Capping the boat at two anglers keeps a clear casting deck, a clean back-cast, and the stealth that shallow-water tarpon demand.
Just sunscreen, polarized sunglasses (essential for spotting fish), a hat and a camera. Rods, flies, drinks, snacks and the fishing license are covered. Your own favorite setup is welcome too.
Tarpon feed hardest at dawn and dusk, so early morning and late afternoon departures fish best — but the lagoon holds fish year-round, every month of the year.
